MID-WEEK ENCOURAGEMENT JANUARY 4TH, 2024

House of Faith Church Mid-Week Encouragement by Rev. Bruce A. Shields

This Sunday will be the first service of the new year. I have been inspired by a friend of mine, Rev. Kris Kapler of the Tawas Methodist Church, to begin a weekly mid-week letter to uplift and encourage while informing of upcoming services and events the House of Faith Church is involved in.

I have spent the last two weeks organizing and preparing for this year's sermons, church picnics, and other events and holy days. I am excited about what the new year will bring and what God has planned for us as His people.

As you may already know, the House of Faith Church was blessed with a much-needed new roof provided by Harbor church. I cannot express in words my gratitude and how much it means, not only to our congregation but to the community of believers, to see brothers and sisters in Christ caring for one another.

"Therefore I, the prisoner in the Lord, exhort you to walk worthy of the calling with which you have been called, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 being diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all." ~ Ephesians 4:1-6

We began 2023 by examining what the word of God had to say about our calling and what God provides through His Spirit to enable us to fulfill that call. We have looked at the Fruits of the Spirit and just completed the Full Armor of God, and in 2024, we will begin looking at Spiritual Gifts and some ways we can strengthen the Body of Christ. I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.

Have a blessed week,

Pastor Bruce

SCRIPTURE READING FOR SUNDAY

1 Corinthians 12:1-3

"Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. 2 You know that when you were pagans, you were being led astray to the mute idols, however you were led. 3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus is accursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit."
